Plus, I made just a ton of mistakes along the way (for example, check out Chapter 11: “I Attempt to Litigate Comedy”).īut I will say that having had forty years of training in identifying absurdities and hypocrisies has turned out to come in pretty handy in the early days of the Trump administration. ![]() It was hard to get people to focus on what I wanted to do as a senator (and not on what I had done as a satirist), and even harder to overcome the Republicans’ efforts to paint me as a foul-mouthed, short-tempered carpetbagger from Hollywood (where I hadn’t lived in about thirty years).
